A New York man attempted to strangle his sister, then drown her in the Hudson River when that failed, police said.
Ahmed H. Hemedan, 20, of Albany, was arrested Sunday afternoon, Aug. 9, as cops pulled him off his sister while he was trying to drown her, the Albany Police Department said.
Officers responded around 3 p.m. to reports that a car had driven into the Hudson River from the Corning Preserve Boat Launch in Albany, authorities said.

A driver was freed from a mangled vehicle after a head-on crash involving a pickup truck and minivan on a busy Putnam County road.
The two-vehicle crash happened on Route 52 in the Lake Carmel area on Saturday, Aug. 8, at around 10:25 p.m., according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived within minutes and found the pickup truck and minivan with heavy damage, with one person trapped inside a vehicle, the department said.
